We organise two mandatory days to ensure you are well-prepared for student life at VHL in the Netherlands.

We're looking forward to welcoming you!

Still getting used to your new surroundings and don’t want to participate in a week full of activities yet? We totally get that. In this case we only ask you to attend the mandatory introduction days in Velp. The mandatory introduction days will take place on 24 and 25 August 2026. Please make sure you are in the Netherlands the week beforehand so you can get settled in your student room or accommodation.

Mandatory days

The international student day and the study programme day are for all first-year students, regardless of whether you participate in the full introduction week.

International student day (mandatory)

International student day

You will meet all first-year international students in person, and we will discuss everything you need to know about living and studying at VHL in the Netherlands: our student service point, where to register at the local municipality, how healthcare works in The Netherlands, how you can get a student sports card, a tour through the building, and much more. Please note that this day is mandatory.

Monday 24 August

  • 09:00 meet up in front of the school
  • Mandatory introduction moment for international students
  • Welcome, fun activity, important information
  • 12:00 Lunch with all students of international Bachelor programmes

After the lunch you can either join the optional full introduction week (paid, separate registration), go to the bicycle sale or rest for the rest of the afternoon.

Study programme day (mandatory)

Study programme day

On Tuesday 25 August you will meet your lecturers and classmates and kick off your study programme. Please note that this day is mandatory.
