Professor Management of Forested Landscapes at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Science.
For over twenty years, lector Eurídice Leyequién has worked as a researcher and advisor in the field of forest landscapes and agro-ecosystems. Her roots lie in Mexico, where she graduated as a biologist. After her master's research (on silvopastoral landscape management in Zimbabwe) at the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences, she conducted her PhD research at Wageningen University (on the sustainability and biodiversity of coffee agroforestry in Mexico).
The following period focused on the impact of land use and climate change on biodiversity. See her postdoc at a NASA project in Mexico, her position as a senior researcher for a research center, and her paper during a sabbatical. In 2016, Eurídice started as a professor of Management of Forested Landscapes.
"As an ecologist, I have experienced how agriculture can threaten nature, but also how it can be a solution. It is therefore a privilege to work in this lectoraat on green solutions for sustainable agriculture. With the team and with farmers both domestically and internationally. For this, we have established projects in recent years in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Romania, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Brazil."
The Applied Research Group Management of Forested Landscapes devises green solutions. These solutions aim to strengthen ecosystems, but also to assist farmers in moving towards sustainable business models and innovative entrepreneurship.
