Great news: in the Keuzegids Masters 2026, published today, the master’s programme Sustainable Regional Transitions has received a very positive evaluation. On no fewer than four of the five aspects assessed, the programme achieved a higher score than last year – a result to be proud of.
From 1 September 2026, Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (VHL) in Velp will start the new Associate degree in Forest and Nature Management. This week, official approval was granted. The programme was already ready to launch, and with the official approval, the first students can now truly begin in September.

This week, a scientific publication on the impact of climate change on tropical forests was published in the renowned journal Science. Associate professor Peter van der Meer (Oil Palm and Tropical Forests) contributed to this large-scale study.

VHL has again increased its number of top-rated programmes from last year. This is a positive boost for the university, which is steadfastly working on its mission to educate professionals for a sustainable future.
On October 18, the annual event Innovate Experience took place at Musis Arnhem. Innovators from the Arnhem-Nijmegen region gathered to network and shared knowledge and experience. Students from HVHL were present with a booth.
