Becoming a temporary or long-term collaboration partner of our university of applied sciences provides benefits for companies and non-profit organisations.

Working together for a better world

At Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (VHL), we train professionals to become the transition experts of the future. But working for a healthier earth is not something you can do alone. It requires cooperation at all levels, and is clearly something we must do together. That is why, as a university of applied sciences, we connect people who are committed to this mission.

Cooperation with institutions and society

As with all universities of applied sciences, collaboration is crucial for VHL's ability to fully fulfil its public mission. VHL cooperates with educational institutions at regional, national, and international level. Our partners share our vision of sustainable development and necessary transitions.

Knowledge exchange and research

Our partnerships centre on knowledge exchange, applied research, and societal impact. We offer high-quality teaching and applied research. We also build strong ties with society, and contribute to regional development. In doing so, we also create a strong foundation which gives all students equal development opportunities.

We do this in a number of ways:

Contributing to four major transitions

A future-proof world requires changes. These can be reduced to four transitions. To these - together with the field and the government - we make a major contribution. A task that VHL is only too happy to carry out.

  • Adapting to climate change
  • Making agriculture more sustainable
  • Strengthening sustainable water management
  • Developing a sustainable living environment

Partnerships with companies and institutions

VHL participates in partnerships between educational institutions, knowledge centres and businesses.

The Dairy Campus in Leeuwarden, for instance, brings together various educational institutions, including HVHL and Wageningen University. Here, entrepreneurs and researchers work together on innovation, research and education.

In the Centre of Expertise Water Technology (CEW) in Leeuwarden, we join forces in the field of water.

We also attach importance to diversity in our study programmes and the professional field. This has resulted in the special campaign Nature Fits All to highlight the opportunities within 'green' professions. This campaign was set up together with Helicon, Staatsbosbeheer, Natuurmonumenten and the Bosschap.

Field advisory committees: education and business

Our teachers are motivated to keep the programmes up to date and ensure that our students start their careers well prepared. Every programme at VHL therefore has a work field advisory committee. This includes external individuals from the business world, who critically review the study programmes; will VHL students soon meet the requirements that the business world sets for starters today? If you are interested in serving on an advisory committee, please contact us at info@hvhl.nl.
