The degree on your diploma

Our diplomas carry several kinds of degrees. Most 4-year programmes of universities of applied sciences will result in a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, others in a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). If you attend a Master's degree programme at VHL University of Applied Sciences (VHL) University of Applied Sciences, you will receive a Master of Science (MSc) degree.

What are the differences between Dutch academic degrees?

Until 2014 there was a distinction between the degrees of universities of applied sciences and those of research universities. If you graduated from a university of applied sciences, you automatically received a Bachelor (Ba) degree. Since 2014 however, study programmes that have recently been accredited will award you the same kind of degree as study programmes at research universities.

Whether you obtain a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Business Administration degree depends on your chosen programme. The corresponding degrees have been determined by the Dutch government.
