Shekila studied International Business at VHL University of Applied Sciences (VHL) and is now an entrepreneur. She explains: “In my company Shekila Eco Fashion, I was very much involved with innovations, such as organic cotton, pineapple leaves, but also fruit leather."
Sustainability
"Fruit that is thrown away at markets and in supermarkets is made into leather. Ordinary cotton requires many chemicals and pesticides in order to be able to grow, and this is very harmful for cotton farmers. Recycled PET is also a raw material which is frequently used in sustainable company clothing. Innovation and reuse of materials is on the rise in the sustainable fashion world.”
