Caroline Dach

"Organising the biggest equine event in Europe"

Alumna Caroline Dach is Event Manager at Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH where she is part of the team that organises the biggest equine event in Europe: EQUITANA in Essen, Germany. Read how her Bachelor Equine, Sports and Business prepared her for this job.

Event manager
"While studying Caroline Dach already knew that she wanted to be an event manager. This is why she completed her half year placement at the Reed Exhibitions in Düsseldorf, the company that organises EQUITANA. Once she finished her Bachelor in 2009 she got the opportunity to continue to work there and started as a project assistant for the EQUITANA. Between May 2011 and October 2012 she worked for another company, which organises conferences as well, but has no connection with horses. She joined Reed again in October 2012 and is still working there now."

Event organisation
As an event manager for EQUITANA she is responsible for the event organisation including ticketing, personnel planning,  set-up of the volunteer programme, hotel bookings, VIP & international guest programme and building up new partnerships and cooperations for EQUITANA. When looking back at what she has learned during her study that she can implement in her job, Caroline says: 'During my study I’ve improved my analytical skills (and scientific research approach) which helps me when it comes to writing or developing strategic documents for the management.

Real life situations
"Working in small groups on different real life situations within a given time frame during my study has definitely helped me to organise myself, to manage a project and to work together with my colleagues in an effective way. On top of that, I really liked it that we got the chance to visit several businesses and organisations within the sector to build up a proper network for the future to really be able to count on."
